Tout comme la villa Dall'ava à Saint Cloud, la maison de Floirac a beaucoup fait parler d'elle. L'audace structurelle conjuguée à la simplicité des formes composent l'efficacité de l'habitation. Mais l'idée maîtresse de cette maison s'articule autour de la plate-forme élévatrice qui permet au chef de famille (tétraplégique) de circuler parmi les espaces transformables ainsi offerts.
Just like the villa Dall' ava in Saint Cloud, the house of Floirac made much speak about it. The audacity structural combined with simplicity of the forms make the effectiveness of the dwelling. But the governing idea of this house is articulated around the lifting platform which makes it possible to the head of family (tetraplegic) to circulate among transformable spaces thus offered.

Pour sa première oeuvre française, Rem Koolhaas met toute son audace au profit d'une maison contemporaine au milieu d'un quartier chic et classique. Cette maison mise tout sur son équilibre structurel. Un long volume s'enfonce sur la profondeur de la parcelle en abritant une étroite cuisine pour finir sur le séjour. C'est au-dessus que ça se complique puisque la chambre de la fille sur l'avant fait écho symétriquement à celle des parents sur l'arrière. Ces deux volumes reposent sur une fôret de poteaux tandis qu'une piscine sur le toit fait la jonction au milieu.
For its first French work, Rem Koolhaas puts all his audacity at the profit of a contemporary house in the middle of a smart and traditional district. This house put all on its structural balance. A long volume is inserted on the depth of the piece by sheltering a narrow kitchen to finish on the lounge. It is above that becomes complicated since the room of the daughter on the front fact echo symmetrically with that of the parents on the back. These two volumes put back on a forest posts while a swimming pool on the roof makes the junction in the middle.
